Supplier information system
Problem definition:
To optimize production and costs certain production steps were outsourced to subcontractors who were managed as service suppliers. These units were not connected to the central SAP system, yet required data regarding their quantities needed to be provided by them. This data needed to be made available automatically and in various forms (Excel, CSV, e-mail or FTP).
Situation before:
No alternative solution available.
Situation afterwards:
Each dispatcher had assigned the suppliers they managed in an internal database and could select them with a click.
They were then able to add or edit the range of articles assigned to the supplier manually or via Excel upload. The forecast quantities and master data were added automatically and the backorder information from my management system was also incorporated. Furthermore, the existing quantities per item could be used from individually maintained storage locations or from the SAP master or production storage location. The same applied to lot sizes, minimum and maximum stock levels.
When the changeover to a new central warehouse or a change of supplier was due, the system could be used to flexibly prepare a scaled stock build-up with item-specific rules so that sufficient stock was available at the moment of the changeover.
